And this is the first time in history that the daily high temperature has been set for eight consecutive days! After this heat wave, the temperature this morning did not fall easily.
Another new record was a morning low of 70 degrees (about 21.1°C) measured at the airport.
Due to the influence of a passing low pressure system, high cloud cover today will lower afternoon temperatures by about 5 degrees, but 93 degrees (approximately 33.9°C) is still today's record high. If we don't reach 93 degrees today, our streak of record high temperatures will come to an end.
A ridge of high pressure has formed over the southwest and will remain in place until the weekend. Saturday and Sunday afternoon will be cloudy and windy, but temperatures will still be record-setting until pressure patterns change significantly next week.
