Drivers must yield to pedestrians in marked crosswalks and unmarked crosswalks at intersections — and may not overtake a vehicle that has stopped to let someone cross. That second rule, broken on multi-lane roads every day, causes the worst strikes we see.

What Nevada Law Requires of Drivers
Under NRS 484B.283, drivers must yield the right of way to a pedestrian crossing within a marked crosswalk or an unmarked crosswalk at an intersection. Drivers also may not overtake and pass a vehicle that has stopped to let someone cross — a rule broken constantly on multi-lane roads, and a common cause of the worst strikes.
